So far, I have been using Twitter to explore and read about new technological advances in education and also to follow the Florida State's Twitter account. I have been interacting with my fellow classmates by liking or retweeting their tweets. I find this beneficial because sometimes my peers will find an account of a news article that I have not seen, so it is interesting to see everyone else's ideas. Twitter will be helpful in my future career because it is a great way to post announcements and also to explore new ideas on different teaching styles and activities.
The digital divide is very important in schools because there are lots of students that aren't as fluent with the internet and computers. If a student is not digitally literate this could affect their education tremendously because technology is used everyday in schools, so this student could easily fall behind. This digital divide is caused by students who do not have computer access at home and so they do not have as much experience as the other students that grew up with technology in their homes. As a teacher, if I come across a student that does not know how to use technology, I will simply take the extra time to help that student learn how to be more comfortable with technology. My main goal will be for my students to succeed, so I will do everything I can so that certain students do not fall behind.
Two softwares that I would use in my future classroom would be Khan Academy and Kahoot. I grew up using these two websites and I feel that they were very beneficial for me. Khan Academy provides step-by-step tutorials for students to learn certain lessons and also has activities that students can better their learning with. Kahoot is very interactive and is a great way for students to have some fun while also learning.
