As a student, I mainly use Microsoft Word to write essays or take notes on my computer. Teachers do much more with Microsoft Word, as I've noticed. They use Microsoft word for Newsletters, to make their Syllabus, to write directions for something, etc. Teachers use much more functions on MS than students do like the table function, boarders, or pictures. Teachers spend time on what they are creating to make it aesthetically pleasing while students just type and essay and leave it at that.
I have heard time and time again from multiple teachers about the consequences of plagiarism and copyright. I have never participated in plagiarism or copyright but I have seen students who have and they get in a lot of trouble. If a student in my class plagiarized a paper or assignment I would give them a zero for the assignment. Lots of schools go as far to expel to fail a student completely but I think that is too harsh of a punishment. To prevent this from happening I would spend lots of time going over how to cite sources responsibly and explain how students should incorporate their own ideas into their work instead of someone else's.
A big problem, especially in high school, is cyberbullying. Although there is not much I can do about it as a teacher, considering the incident happened outside of school, I would still do my best to prevent this from happening. I would sit down with both parties and explain to them the consequences of cyberbullying and how their are other ways to deal with people you don't like. Another big problem in school nowadays is decreased productivity. To fix this problem in the classroom I would have lessons that the students could engage in and to learn better and to become more active.

  1. The tricky thing is a single class/ workshop does not always solve the problem. Bullying is hard to deal with and cyberbully is even harder because it does not only happen on campus but it is open to the world :(
