Hi! My name is Ellis King, and I'm a freshman here at FSU. I'm an education major and hope to be a second grade teacher one day. I'm from Fort Myers, Florida and love to go to the beach and hang out with my friends. I have two brothersand have two wonderful parents. 

I used to volunteer for a second grade class and used the smartboard in the class to teach lessons. I also took an education class in highschool and we had an on-campus preschool where we used music and educational apps for the children. I myself have used lots of educational technologies in school like math games or brain pop. A big part of my everyday educational life is Canvas, where I get all the information from my classes on my computer or phone. 

I hope to learn how to be more educated in technology in this class. I also hope to learn things that will be helpful when I am a teacher. Hopefully I will learn how to do lesson plans and learn how to incorporate technologies into the classroom. I want to learn all of this because I want to be an effective teacher one day.

    Nice to meet you Ellis! I am glad that you have had some experiences with both using tech to teach and to learn. This should help you to make sense of a lot of class content. Unfortunately, I won't cover much about how to make lesson plans. However, there is plenty of opportunities in this class you are going to explore things are related to lesson planning (that is usually covered in pedagogical class). This should help you in the future when you are in a real pedagogical class.

       The "flipped classroom" approach is when students are expected to learn material before class and be ready for discussion in class. An example of this is having a reading for homework and then talking about that reading and relating it to the learning objective in class the next day. I think that this is very effective and gives students a glimpse of what they are expected to know so that they are more prepared for class. This approach is used in almost all of my classes and I feel that I have benefited from it.        Open educational resources (OER) are resources that are free and open to the public to use for educational purposes.       I really enjoy using Twitter for educational purposes. I have learned a lot about educational technology because I accounts that post about new technologies in the classroom. I also learn a lot from what my classmates tweet, because I see their ideas and opinions on information that they see or post about. The benefits of using Twitter is gaining more knowledge on the topic of educational technology outside of the classroom.      I learned a lot from the Web design project and I really enjoyed doing it. I learned how to navigate through Weebly and also how to make a website in the future. The only thing about Weebly that I did not like what that it was kind of difficult to use.
